Choosing an Aspen Rental for a Group

When a family or a group of friends travels together, the best part of the trip is often the time in between: breakfasts, evenings by the fire, the hot tub after skiing. That is why so many groups choose an Aspen vacation rental over a row of hotel rooms. Here is what to look for.
A home or a hotel?
A hotel suits a couple on a short trip. For a group, a whole home usually wins: one shared living room instead of a lobby, a kitchen for breakfasts and easy dinners, and the freedom to keep your own schedule. It can also cost less per person than several hotel rooms in peak season.
Bedrooms and layout
Bedroom count matters, but so does how the house is laid out. Bedrooms spread across more than one level let grandparents turn in early while teenagers stay up. A main-floor primary suite means no stairs for the people who would rather avoid them. And count bathrooms as carefully as beds.
The kitchen and gathering space
Look for a kitchen that is actually equipped for cooking and a dining table large enough to seat everyone at once. A second living space, such as a den or media room, gives a big group somewhere to spread out when the weather keeps everyone indoors.
The practical details
Parking and ski gear
Downtown parking in Aspen is limited, so check how many cars the home can take, and where skis, boots and bikes will go.
Hot tub and outdoor space
A private hot tub is close to essential after a ski day, and patios, a grill and a fire pit turn summer evenings into the best part of the trip.
Pets and minimum stays
If the family dog is coming, confirm the pet policy and any fees in advance. Many Aspen homes also have minimum stays, often longer over holidays, so plan your dates around them.
About 22 Pyramid Road
Our home at 22 Pyramid Road was set up for exactly this kind of trip: five bedrooms across three levels with a main-floor primary suite, an open kitchen and dining for eight, a den and a media room, a private eight-person hot tub, parking for five, and pets welcome. Stays have a four-day minimum. Tell us your dates and Heather will follow up with availability.
